actions for Government Leaders

Be a leader not just a manager/maintainer.

Make your city better healthier, vibrant and more livable.

Empower your city to make the shift.

Join the Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty

The treaty is being joined by cities around the world that are agreeing to stop expanding fossil fuel infrastructure to prevent future harm from worsening climate changes.  https://fossilfueltreaty.org/cities

Make Walking Easy

All citizens should be able to access and move about their city safely without investing $30,000+ in a motor vehicle.  Make your city compact, walkable and safe.  Walking should be convenient with clear level walking surfaces and good connections.

Improve Transit

Transit is accessible to all citizens regardless of wealth. increase the frequency, improve the amenities, make it easy to take the bus.

Make Biking Easy

Safe active Transportation lanes make roads safer for all users.  Bike lanes move more people while using less space. They cost less and help vulnerable road users (children, seniors & everyone outside of a car) avoid death and serious injury while lowering the  cost of movement.

Ban new Fossil Fuel heating

Protect the air we breathe and put a stop to local air pollution.  Heating with clean electricity via heat pumps is economical and prevents carbon pollution.
We have abundant clean energy in BC

Support Citizens with Rebates

For those who can make a change, provide incentives to help them take the plunge. From installing and EV charger, to replacing polluting heating appliances with heat pumps.

Ban the sale of new Fossil fuel appliances

If people buy them, they will pollute for the next 10-20 years and we get to breathe that air pollution. And that pollution makes climate change worse. If we ban polluting appliances in new homes we save the owners the cost of retrofits later.

Install EV support

Help residents who can make the switch.  Make adding home chargers easy for houses and stratas. Provide incentives to help people take the plunge.

Encourage biking and walking to school

Active transportation to school improves student concentration, learning and physical health. Eliminating the soccer mom traffic jam reduces pollution and improves safety in and around schools.  If it isn’t “SAFE” to walk, the city needs to provide better infrastructure so it is safe.
